1. Hello, and welcome to Level! Tell us about yourself.

I’m Louishia. I coach group skill and structure class! I used to be in tech industry for years and have made the switch into the fitness industry.

2. How have your years in the fitness industry led you to believe in what you do about fitness today?

I’ve always been into fitness, sports and the outdoors since a young age. But have only been in the fitness industry for the last 6-8 months. I’ve always been a huge believer of how much fitness is able to improve one’s quality of life, not only physically but also mentally. The short span of time I’ve been in the industry has affirmed how I can help clients own and progress in their fitness journey while remaining injury free.

3. What do you like to do outside the gym?

Train! I spend lots of time preparing for Ironman and Ultra marathons. I usually spend 2 hours on average each day either running, swimming or cycling . On top of that, I do strength training to improve my power output ! I have a aquathlon coming up at the end of the month, an Ironman coming up in May and maybe an ultra in September!

4. How would you like to chart your journey in the next 3-5 years? What are things you are aiming to do and are striving toward?

This is only the beginning of my journey in the fitness industry! I can’t say for sure what the next 3-5 years would look like. What I do know would be my passion and the constant want to hone my craft as a coach. Whether it could be in mobility area, strength or more catered towards a specific clientele.

5. What do you think are two biggest ways in the way people are miseducated about fitness? Explain!

First, going out all guns blazing, then consistency. The biggest thing about fitness is actually enjoying what you do (I’m not advocating to stop every time something feels difficult) . But if anyone dreads running EVERY SINGLE TIME, then maybe try something different. At the end of the day, in order to want to show up every time and have any kind of longevity in your lifestyle, it has to work for YOU.

Second, doing really high volumes of workout without any understanding. Everyone has different biomechanics. There are things we do not want to do to potentially get injuries. However it is really important to think about what muscles you are working on and engaging those muscle groups, maybe even moving differently that helps you to feel the muscles you’re working on.

6. What are three things people don’t know about you? Elaborate as much as you can if you like!

1. I’ve learned ballet for 15 years of my life and was on my way to be a certified ballet instructor. But I realised the hard way that it was not something I enjoyed ^^ See point above

2. I eat waaaay too much chocolate for my own good. In fact, my dream date would be to go to Willy Wonka’s factory (brownie points if they have a golden ticket).

3. I picked snowboarding up when I was in my 20s. I fell in love with it and got certified as a coach
