Coach Spotlight: Krystle is baaaaaack!

Hello Krystle! Welcome back to LEVEL! For those that don’t know you, tell us a bit about yourself!
Hello! Thank you! I’m excited to be back at LEVEL.
Sure thing—starting with the basics; I’m 28 years old this year and have been a personal trainer since 2018 (although I took a “gap year” or so during the pandemic). Amongst many things, I love lifting, teaching, cats, going to concerts, and getting tattoos (sorry if you’re reading this, mom).
As a woman who has found confidence through strength training and has a client base mainly made up of women; I aspire to empower my clients into being stronger, more confident versions of themselves. I am passionate about helping people achieve their goals, become health-seeking individuals, help them move better, and learn how to navigate their way through a gym, all while forming a genuine love for their bodies throughout the process.
You left LEVEL in May 2023. What inspired you to venture out on your own for the past year, and what have you been up to?
I ventured out of LEVEL because I wanted to challenge myself by building my own brand and being a freelancer. So, I took the leap last year and have been doing that ever since! It has come with its own set of benefits and challenges, for sure, but overall, it’s been extremely rewarding, and I’m blessed to have clients who are incredibly supportive of my business.
Over the last year, have your training philosophy and methods evolved? If so, how? Are there any new techniques or insights you’ve gained that you’re excited to bring to LEVEL?
My personal approach to training has remained quite similar over the last year; I’m still focused on building muscle and getting stronger. With the new spaces I’ve been in, I’ve definitely learnt how to better integrate machines and free weights into a comprehensive strength training programme.
In terms of methodology, I’ve placed a stronger emphasis on personalised education, ensuring my clients understand not just the exercises they’re performing but also the principles behind them. This empowers them to make informed decisions about their fitness journey, as well as build independence and confidence both in and out of the gym.
Overall, my coaching philosophy has always revolved around growth. I try my best to commit to continuously learning and keeping up to date on new research and industry best practices. This ongoing learning allows me to refine and improve my methods continually, which enables me to provide my clients with more value and a better coaching experience.
Talk a bit about your approach to women’s health and strength training for women. What are you trying to achieve at LEVEL?
My approach to women’s health and strength training is rooted in empowering women to achieve their best selves through fitness. My goal with the She is Strong community is to create a supportive, inclusive environment where women of all fitness levels can feel confident and motivated. Another mission I have with She is Strong is to demystify strength training for women, highlighting its benefits not just for physical health but also for mental and emotional well-being.
Finally, a bit of trivia for our audience. Do you still have cats? Tell us about them.
Yes, I still have one cat! His name is Ollie, and he’s estimated to be about 8-9 years old. He used to be a community cat (stray) in my parent’s neighbourhood, and after caring for him for about two years as a stray, I officially adopted him in October 2021, and he’s been an indoor cat ever since 🙂 He’s a very intelligent and sweet boy; it’s such a joy to be able to come home to him every day! I even got a tattoo of him on my leg a few months ago – he’s my baby.
